Wallace J. Palmer, Lt. Col, USAF Ret., 86, of Williamsburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Col. Palmer served as an Army Air Corps pilot during World War II and served in the Air Force during Korea. He later was an Air Force auditor. Col. Palmer was a highly decorated officer.

He was a partner in Minter, Morrison and Grant CPA firm of Alexandria, VA and later co-founded Donovan and Palmer CPA firm of Springfield, VA. He then established his own CPA practice in Williamsburg, VA.

Col. Palmer was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church and was a member of the James City County Rotary Club with perfect attendance of over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Y. Palmer. Col. Palmer is survived by his wife Catherine; his son Steven Palmer and wife Barbara of N.H., his daughter Donna McNamara and husband Brien of MD; and his stepsons Howard Bray of Williamsburg and Wendell Bray and wife Teresa of Annandale, VA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
